the trick to writing a novel

The place to write is right here, right now. You don't need to read one more blog. You do need to be encouraged to write. You know who you are. Sometimes you just need to tell yourself you'll write one sentence, maybe just one word, and so you open the Word or Pages document and go to where you left off and add one word. One sentence. Don't even push yourself. And three hours later you wake from your writing zone and see that you've added a whole scene or chapter. Go ahead and trick yourself. Go ahead and write that one word.
